The early morning rain stunted the initial gate crowd. With that said, everyone that did come through the gates was ready to play. Neither the chemical burns nor the fuel sickness were as bad as I thought they were going to be. There were clouds in the sky and the wind wasn't bad so the fire breathing was all dramatic. Although I ended up missing the torchless a few times during the day. Could have been the pyrolized torch heads, perhaps the humidity, the fuel lethargy, or maybe a combination of these things. That was the only downfall of the day. An interesting thing to point out is that my right hand has browned along the palm. Once again I joined up with Flourish and Fool for a 5:30 show at the Globe stage.
I love the 5:30 fire show. Working with acrobatic jugglers and fire is exciting. Several returning fans arrived; Anastasia Danger and her mother, Darlene, were there. My friend and fan, J.R. was out. And Elijah was stoked up and decked out for the show as well. All the stunts went well, nobody died or got hurt so we're going to do it again. Probably make up more stunts along the way as well.

Labor Day 09/07/09
Day 4 Pittsburgh Renfest 09/06/09
Today was a great day of firsts. I ate my first juggling torch today. Oww. The cooked insides of my mouth are not going to heal for a while. But I am going to do it again. My first show today was huge. Man, the Pittsburgh people love fire. The second also rocked. Some kid told me to light my nose on fire, so I did a transfer I haven't done in years. That was fun. The biggest fun though, was a show that I have started up on the Globe Stage. I received permission to add a 5:30 show on a different stage than I am normally at. The Globe stage.
I have hooked up with a cool juggling/acrobatic/comedy team called Flourish and Fool. Together we made up some tricks just this morning and then performed them without any rehearsal. Totally on the edge, off the cuff, and uber-dangerous.
The dry fuel fireball was actually lame. I need to work that out I guess. But what did work was everything else.
Jules balanced a Scythe on his chin. The blade had Kevlar wicking attached, so I blew a fireball at it and lit it on fire. Then he transferred the scythe to Kelsey and she went down into the splits, bringing it close enough to my face for me to blow fireballs off the burning blade. Then they did something they call a flag.
Jules puts his feet together and Kelsey steps on to his knees, then Kelsey hooks a foot around his neck and leans off diagonally. He is leaning back handling the counterbalance. She lights torches and begins to juggle them. I put my torso through her legs, avoiding all the obvious jokes and trying to concentrate on the torches. Then I timed a fireball off a juggling torch. Hardcore awesome! We ended on the stunt we invented for the the Wild Things in Washington, PA. Flourish and Fool juggle torches around my face as I blow fireballs off them. All around adrenaline fun. Today was a good day!
Day 3 Pittsburgh Renfest 09/05/09
The wind was calm, the crowd was not. The show had rearranged the stage schedules to allow for some time in between shows. This made it so everyone had one less show. 4 shows worth of people showed up for my 2 shows. Pittsburgh sure is rowdy!

Anastasia Danger watched all my shows and hung out with me a while. She said that "the devil is in her eyes." She is right.
Minor League Baseball 09/04/09
The Wild Things out of Washington, PA had us come out for a promo gig. Several festival entertainers joined in on the fun! They wanted to save the fire breathing till the end of the night, just before the fireworks. Flourish and Fool (Kelsey and Jules) worked with me and it was super fun. They juggled flaming torches past my face and I blew a fireball off a juggling torch as they went burning by. Very cool indeed. We had a lot of fun. Now I am gearing up for a three day stint, gonna be a blistery weekend!
Morning show KDKA, Pittsburgh 09/02/09
This morning I joined some fellow cast members and we went out to the morning show on channel 2 in Pittsburgh. You can see a clip of some of it right here In the last teaser I ate multiple torches in a row and upped my blister count. New Pittsburgh blister count: Hands: 1, Lips: 1. But it sure was a lot of fun.
I poked around the KDKA's website and discovered two spots from last year where I breathe fire as cutaways. Here and here.
