Day 2 Pittsburgh Renfest 08/30/09

The sun was out and so were the guests. The wind was out and so were the gusts. We are talking 10, 15mph and some gusts were stronger. The Rose stage in Pittsburgh is designed to capture those winds, amplify them and change their direction in a seemingly random fashion. On account of the wind, today was a hardcore day for fire. The potential for career ending injury was higher than I care to calculate. Thanks to the many friends and fans who helped rile me up.

Today's favorite pryo's are Princess Elizabeth, Anastasia Danger, Max Dragonboy, and Nicole. Princess Elizabeth (in royal purple) ran all the way from the glassblower to watch me blow a fireball at the closing gate. Anastasia Danger is allowed to wear black and red whenever she wants. Although wearing the princess cone while playing with juggling sticks didn't really work for her. Max Dragonboy returned from last year all full of Dragon lore, and a good half a foot taller. Nicole and I go way back to before I was a fire performer, she knew me when I was a break-dancing turtle for a dinner theater.

Got the first blister of this run today. It's at the outside base of my right pinkie finger and occurred during a palm-kill. Not a biggie.

Opening Day Pittsburgh 08/29/09

The rain was coming down pretty thick as I, and a few others, huddled beneath what little protection we had. It had started in just as Temujin began his storytelling. Temujin is a consummate entertainer, he promptly walked his audience to the chapel next door and put them under a roof. Then he stood in the rain telling a story until his audience invited him inside. That's class. Right when I was about to go on stage, the rain suddenly stopped.

From that first show until the last, today was a blast. They put 4 times as much seating in front of my stage. I ate burned pizza (yummy.) The parade was a nice pace and Molly held my sign while spotting for me. There is one particular tree branch that I decided will lose its leaves faster than the rest of the tree. I flirted with the Queen. I scared a little kid (par.) One fellow, J.R., had been to many of my shows last year and was there twice today too. J.R. loves danger. I ended the day talking to this little, 5, maybe 6, year old girl named Emily. Emily told me that I should be the 'King of Stinky Stuff.'

Pittsburgh is perhaps the rowdiest place I have entertained.

In the gate -08/28/09

I have had a few weeks to heal up. My coughing has been producing some interesting Flem lately. I think breathing fire, or to be more specific, eating fire, has given the crest of my top lip two wee lil' scars. My head is clear and chemical burns are absent. It is time to go burn it up.

Colorado was a great experience, visiting home in Minnesota was a great experience, and I am starting another great experience. The Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival opens for the season tomorrow. If you are in the area you should swing by.

I am bringing out the "Great Balls of Fire To Go Menu" for the street. I have three shows a day and they have more than tripled the amount of seating at my stage. I am looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

A small review: San Antonio Express 08/09/2009

I received a call today informing me that a picture of me breathing fire made the cover of the travel section in the San Antonio Express. The associated article mentions me, but it is mostly a nice review of the pirate cruise and other attractions in the area.

I wish the web article would have carried the image because I haven't seen it...and furthermore it does say that I blow a "4 foot inferno." I can assure you that when I breathe fire, I blow a much larger fireball than that. :)

Colorado Blister Count -08/03/09

Colorado Renaissance Festival is wrapping up. Signs are being removed, shop owners are putting their stock into trailers, and I am finalizing the Blister count.

Hand Blisters: 19
Lip Blisters: 10

On top of working the street, I breathed fire for 16 parades and approximately 70 performances.
